Board of Directors 2023/2024


  • President - Brinda Narayan (CGI)


Brinda is a change leader and professional consultant who has been on Alberta’s health transformation journey for over 20 years. She has held multiple roles such as client executive, executive consultant, strategy/change management consultant, project and program manager. She has a deep understanding of the health ecosystem and has been involved in several leading edge health initiatives and as such, has developed meaningful relationships within the ecosystem.


At CGI, Brinda is a Vice President, Consulting Services responsible for the health vertical.




 Vice President - Kevin Jones (Strata Health Solutions)



Kevin is the Senior Vice President for Canada at Strata Health Solutions and has been in Healthcare Technology for 20 years. He has participated in large and small solution deployments within the health sector both as an Executive Sponsor and Project Lead. His experience collaboratively designing solutions would bring a strength to the ANHIX board. Kevin looks to increase collaboration between private industry and public sector to ensure the success of all digital health projects. As the Chair of the Alberta Chapter of both Digital Health Canada and member of the CHIEF (Canada’s Health Informatics Executive Forum) Advisory Board, Kevin brings national perspective to ANHIX.



  • Treasurer - Malcolm Steele (1414806 Alberta Inc.)


Malcolm is an independent consultant whose primary focus has been on the health care industry. He has over 40 years of IM/IT experience with 25 years of health care experience in Alberta. He has held senior positions at Alberta Health Including Executive Director of both Information Technology and Information Management. His consultancy experience included the position of Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting and Consulting Director/Health Practice lead at Sierra Systems. Now retired, he has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over fifteen years having served as Vice-President, President and Past President. He is currently the  Treasurer, a position he has held for over ten years.





  • Director - Heidi Bronson (1414806 Alberta Inc.)


Heidi is an independent consultant with over 25 years of IM/IT experience in the health care industry. She was the Manager, Information Services for 12 years with the Northern Lights Regional Health Authority before joining Medisolution, a healthcare software company as Director, Professional Services. In that role, she was responsible for the support, implementation and maintenance of Medisolution's client base outside of Quebec. She worked for Medisolution for 8 years before undertaking several assignments as an independant consultant. Now retired, she has been a member of the ANHIX Board for over seventeen years serving many of those years as Secretary.


 



 Director - Robi Chamas (Cisco Canada inc.)



    Robi has 20+ years in people, process, technology thought leadership with a major focus on healthcare and the public sector. He has held multiple leadership and executive positions with major partners to Healthcare organizations in the west. He is the Client Director, Healthcare with Cisco in the West and has previously served as President of ANHIX.







     

     Director - Brett Duncan (Ricoh Canada)




    Brett is a Client Executive with Ricoh Canada Inc., supporting the public sector. He has held various director positions for over 10 year in the IT industry and has spent over twelve years working with public sector accounts and organizations.  He is a long-time member of ANHIX and has served previously as both a Board member and President.





     



     Director - Adam Elwi (CGI)



    Adam is a Director Consulting Expert with CGI and provides senior management consultant services to clients in Alberta’s health sector. He has over 10 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams engaged in transforming how healthcare is delivered and measured in Alberta. He has extensive experience leading complex transformational change initiatives, providing expert advice to senior management teams and conducting complex business analyses.  He has deep expertise and relationships with stakeholders in Alberta’s health services delivery sector and understands the complexity of their delivery environment. His specializations include clinical business process analysis and re-design, quality improvement strategic planning, organizational change management, and implementation of complex operational programs.




    Director - Sophia Hoosein (Alberta Health)


    • Sophia Hoosein is a long-time public servant who has worn many hats during her time in both the provincial and federal public services. Her strong interest in leveraging technology to improve health outcomes and personal health management stems from her contribution to the development, implementation, and operations of Alberta’s MyHealth Records service. Sophia currently works for Alberta Health as a MyHealth Records program manager, and she holds Master’s Degrees in Humanities Computing and Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta. Sophia was awarded the Emerging Health Leaders (EHL) Edmonton Node's 2023 Health Trailblazer of the Year for 2023 for her demonstrated commitment to both her own professional development as well as the professional development of participants in EHL Edmonton's flagship mentorship program. 


     

     Director - Karen Kuhn (Accenture)



    Karen has 35+ years of health sector experience including >25 years leading digital health projects.  Her experience includes development, implementation, and support for various clinical systems, and integrations, in acute care, community, primary care, and consumer health.  She has led projects in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, NWT, Nunavut, as well as with Canada Health Infoway.  Karen has an MSc in Healthcare Informatics as well as PMP and CPHIMS-CA certifications.  Karen is currently an Associate Director with Accenture based in Calgary.  







     Director - Vivek Kumar (Alberta Health Services)



    Vivek Kumar has been working as Director Corporate Analytics Support at AHS since 2013.  He is leading modernization of corporate analytics and big data initiatives at AHS.  Prior to AHS, he was with EPCOR and Honeywell Inc.  He has two master’s degrees:  M.Sc. from University of Alberta in engineering and MBA from Queen's University.  He also holds P.Eng. and PMP designations. 










     Director - Uma Kutty (Alberta Health Services)


    Uma has over 17 years experience managing the delivery of digital transformation programs for public health agencies and Fortune 100 organizations. She is currently a Program Manager of the Integration Coordination Centre (ICC) with AHS, where she manages a project portfolio for the Provincial EHR. She has extensive experience in program/project delivery, stakeholder management, business process reengineering and service delivery. Previously, she worked as a management consultant in the US, advising public health agencies and managed healthcare organizations. Uma is a trained Computer Science engineer, MBA (IIM-Lucknow) and graduate of SDA Bocconi where she completed a specialized Masters in Management of International Organizations.


     



     Director - Andrea Locke (CGI)



    Andrea is a Director, Consulting Services working at CGI with several digital health clients across Western Canada. She is a Masters prepared Registered Nurse and recently completed her ‘Healthcare Innovation and Design’ Graduate Certificate from the University of Calgary.  Andrea has worked as an RN in both the hospital and community settings.  Before joining CGI, she managed several PCN health clinics in NE Calgary.  Andrea loves to challenge the status quo and focus on innovation. She is passionate about blending her nursing background with technology, women in leadership, mentoring others and solving challenges. Andrea volunteers as a board member with several health tech organizations and mentors women interested in growing their careers.  




     




    • Director - Zac Rodrigo (Telus Health)



    Zac is a seasoned consultant, with considerable experience in the Alberta digital health ecosystem. Throughout his career, he has worked across product development, strategic program planning, change management, communications and technology implementation for healthcare clients in Western Canada and the United Kingdom. Zac has been involved with a number of projects in Western Canada including MyHealth Records (AB), COVID-19 response planning and Remote Patient Monitoring initiatives. He currently serves in TELUS Health's Product Innovation unit. Zac is a certified project management professional (PMP) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the U of A.


     



     Director - Peter Smith (Strata Health Solutions)


    Peter is the President & CEO of Strata Health, a company specializing in intelligent patient navigation throughout the continuum of care. He has worked for more than 25 years in technology across several industries including healthcare, transportation, eCommerce, banking, and construction.


    Peter has been a member of the ANHIX board since 2014 and served as Vice President in 2016/2017 and President in 2017/2018. 






     Director - Carolyn Trumper (Alberta Health Services)


    Carolyn has 30+ years healthcare experience with leadership in nursing, QI, patient safety, regulation, legislation and policy. A leader/innovator, she works in integration and improvement of complex systems partnering with clinicians, academia, government, colleges, and public agencies. Currently  the E.D. of Integrated QM, Clinical Information Systems,  Nursing Clinical Education and Professional Practice in Central Zone, AHS, and faculty member in Health Policy and QI in Healthcare Management. She is an experienced decision maker in strategies for increasing patient, public and member engagement through  implementation/utilization of gamification, digital communication, crowd-sourcing using social media platforms for convergent/divergent thinking, webinars and outreach.




     Director - Nancy Walter (Alberta Innovates)


    Nancy is an experienced health-system leader motivated to co-create a health system that is person-centered and embraces innovative solutions. Currently, she serves as the Senior Business Partner for Health System Transformation at Alberta Innovates. Previously, she held positions within AHS where she led and supported the planning and implementation of large-scale, innovative care programs and policies. She holds a BSc in Laboratory Medicine and is currently completing her MHA at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and her Certified Health Executive Certification. Nancy has also served as the Co-Chair for Emerging Health Leaders in Edmonton and Calgary and as Communications Chair for Imagine Citizen Network.
